Heat Soaked Glass

Description
Heat Soaked glass is toughened safety glass that has been submitted to an additional heat test to reduce the risk of spontaneous breakage, which can occur up to two years or more after the glass has been installed.
Although this is uncommon, it may be prudent in some cases to use Heat Soaked Glass to limit the chance of spontaneous fracture.

The Heat Socked Test is an expedited method that fulfills European Standard EN 14179; at IKK Glass, the process is carried out in a dedicated highly efficient Heat Socked Test oven, where the glass is heated to 280 C0 for up to 2 – 5 hours before slow cooling. During these 2- 5 hours, most glass containing Nickel Sulphide Inclusion (NiS) will shatter during the HTS process, which causes the removal of the fractured glass from the glass piece.
